Many mixtures contain seeds, also for the price ratio, which is not good for goldfinches. This way, you end up with a cheaper mix, but totally disproportionate to your bird's health. Take for example cheap rapeseed, which actually causes liver problems in goldfinches! Or the black seed, an oilseed that birds like to eat, but is completely unsuitable due to its high fat content, which causes problems for goldfinches.

Carrot seeds are very rich in vitamins with a high proportion of vitamin A and carotene, as well as vitamin B, calcium and valuable carbohydrates.
